English
Using panel data on 131 non-cyclical consumer goods firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (2020-2024), this study examines how sustainability report disclosure, financial distress, and sales growth affect firm value. Sustainability reports and sales growth show no partial effect, while financial distress positively affects firm value. Investors appear to value financial resilience over disclosure or sales growth.

📝 gxceed 編集解説 — Why this matters
In the global GX context
This study adds emerging-market evidence to the global debate on whether sustainability disclosure translates into firm value, complementing TCFD/ISSB/CSRD research that is largely based on developed markets. It suggests that in Indonesia, disclosure alone may not drive valuation, highlighting the role of financial resilience signals.

📄 Abstract(原文)
This study was motivated by the instability—specifically, the fluctuations in firm value—within a sector considered relatively stable and unaffected by economic changes because it provides essential goods to meet people’s daily needs. This study was conducted to analyze the effects of sustainability reports, financial distress, and sales growth on firm value. The study population consists of 131 companies in the non-cyclical consumer goods sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2020 to 2024. The research method employed was a quantitative study involving the collection of secondary data in the form of companies’ financial and non-financial reports. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in 12 companies studied over a 5-year period, yielding a total of 60 observations. The analysis technique used in this study was panel data analysis. Data processing in this study was conducted using Microsoft Office Excel and the EViews 12 software application. The results indicate that Sustainability Report, Financial Distress, and Sales Growth simultaneously influence Firm Value; Sustainability Report has no partial effect on Firm Value; Financial Distress has a positive partial effect on Firm Value; and Sales Growth has no partial effect on Firm Value. These findings suggest that a company's financial distress can signal to investors that it is resilient and capable of improving its financial condition, ultimately increasing its value. However, investor decisions regarding investment are not always based on sustainability report disclosures and increased sales, and therefore cannot influence firm value.
